A mysterious panther-like creature with a large tail was captured on video in County Wexford, Ireland, that has locals speculating that it was the “Beast of Oulart Hill”. A man named Lar spotted the creature about 50 yards away roaming around in a field near his home so he videotaped the animal from his back garden.
In an interview with the Sunday World, Lar recalled what he witnessed, “The movement of it was just mad. It was so fast. It was actually frightening. I was watching it for what seemed like a minute or two – but was probably only 30 seconds before I grabbed the phone.” “By then [the creature] was at the bottom of the field. It was like it just hovered across the field. If it was a dog or something like that it wouldn’t have moved like that.” He added that the animal went into an overgrown area close to a stream and he never saw it again.
When he shared his video on social media, several people commented that it could have been a black panther, and after conducting his own research, Lar believes that what he saw was a black leopard.
However, he did receive a response from a person living in Oulart that claimed the mysterious creature was their own cat but Lar wasn’t convinced as he told the Sunday World that it was definitely not a domesticated feline. “They said ‘this is my cat, we live in Oulart.’ They were convinced it was their cat. I’ve seen that cat around Oulart and it definitely wasn’t that cat.” He even volunteered to bring the owner to the field in order to conduct a reconstruction/size comparison to prove that it wasn’t their cat but the individual didn’t go.
Interestingly, Lar mentioned that in the days prior, during, and after the sighting, he noticed a helicopter hovering over the field – perhaps looking for the creature? “There was a small red private helicopter flying over the field the day before the sighting, the day of the sighting and the day after. We were wondering if that was just coincidence or if it was someone looking for an escaped cat.” He went on to say, “A lot of farmers have said foxes have been milling the sheep out of it recently and after this I’ve been thinking is it foxes or is it this.”
Lar acknowledged that his video footage was blurry and that he understands the skepticism, but “I know what I saw and it will only be a matter of time before someone else sees it. People might have already seen it but been too afraid to come forward.”
